[Solved] Read Only mode

Hello I have a Open Office Give-and-take Document. I created the document myself and somehow tonight it is set to Read Only. I too accept a password on the file. This file has every countersign I use all over the internet so I cannot share it with the community for back up. I attempted to disengage Read-Only the simple style past right clicking the file and going to Properties . In backdrop information technology is NOT listed as Read-But

Later on I log into the file it says Read-Only at the bottom. Delight aid

Heres some bones info:
Windows vii 64bit
Open Function 4.one.1 Version
I created the document information technology was never from an employer or individual who might want to make sure sure parts are not to be modified.

When I double click Edit as stated from above it allows me to salvage the document and take off Read - Simply. However any time I endeavor to open t he file and log into it with the countersign once more it reapplies "read-just"

Also I used Ctr+A, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to re-create paste the unabridged document on a blank brand new *doc file and applies the same Read-But attributes past defeault there also. Please help

The quick reply is to /File /Salve As under another name. There is possibly a left over lock file, either in the directory of the original file, or in your OpenOffice User profile. To meet this yous will take to enable "View subconscious files". How y'all do this depends on your operating system. Yous can so delete any such lock files when OpenOffice is closed. Note that you lot should not confuse the lock files with their owning file - the lock files are much smaller.

Work in .odt format rather than .doc format. I have seen so many posts most problem with passworded documents I personally would non employ passwords - I'd keep any sensitive documents on a USB difficult drive which I would go along safe.

Open your read-simply file. Make a new OpenOffice file and open it. Ctrl A to select everything in information technology. With carte du jour particular Window change to your new blank file. Ctrl V to paste the contents of the original file. Now Salve that file. Do not utilise a password. Does information technology open for editing?

In that location are so many problems reported with passwords on OpenOffice - whether these are OO problems or user problems I cannot say - in addition to the password being finer uncrackable if forgotten, that I would never recommend anyone to password a file. Much easier to keep whatsoever sensitive file on a private USB device which you keep in your briefcase. (And discover the USB removal protocols!)
